Sweetness, sweetness …
Where has she been,
With her lion-red body, her wings of glass?
Now she is flying
More terrible than she ever was, red
Scar in the sky, red comet.
From Sting by Sylvia Plath
This is the first in a short series of sonic-interpretations of Text. Further pieces will be posted over the next few months.
The original recording in this piece is of a bee trapped in a web; it’s stinger aggressively trying to connect with the spider which stood to one side. The frantic buzzing of the bee has been slowed down and processed to create “Sweetness”.
