An underground car-park is the first point of call for many visitors to the inner-city. Stepping out of the car the visitor is enveloped by an array of inorganic sounds particular to this space: the electrical hum of vending machines, the roar of exhaust fans and car engines, the screech of tyres on painted surfaces all add to a distinctively exhausting tone. The bombardment of these sounds compounds the claustrophobic experience of being several levels underground. The effect can be quite disorienting.
An experimental piece using layers of organic and industrial sounds.
