The sound of these birds is often likened to a laugh, but in reality it is more to assert territory. They have taken up residence here at the moment, the daylight hours being punctuated by their calls. At 1’20” it’s possible to hear the kookaburras flying from one tree to another further away, where they continue their day.
Visitors to this region often comment on the number of different bird calls they can hear. In a small space we have a mix of coastal, pastoral, and subtropical forest biospheres which support a diverse range of birds. This short soundscape is an homage to them.
